History
The Chicken Kitchen has been serving people in Edenton and the surrounding area since 1971. It has been recommended as an excellent place to eat by the hotels, motels and inns in Edenton since then. The Chicken Kitchen was the first restaurant around to cook a homemade biscuit breakfast in 1979. Due to the restaurant’s strong success, Chicken Kitchen opened a larger restaurant at their current location in 1982.
Chef Biography
Rhonda Fleetwood has been the general manager for The Chicken Kitchen for 31 years. Many of the staff members have worked at The Chicken Kitchen for 10 to 15 years. Everything at the Chicken Kitchen is cooked fresh. Eggs are cooked any way you like them. All seafood is cooked to order. Homemade recipes perfected over the course of time are used for the biscuits, macaroni salad, cole slaw and the original fish and chips. These are made fresh daily. The breading for the chicken and seafood is homemade daily as well.
Owner Biography
Joe Bowles is the owner of The Chicken Kitchen in Edenton and a second successful Chicken Kitchen in Williamston. He learned that the town of Edenton was ready for a good fried chicken restaurant and he knew the restaurant business. He opened The Chicken Kitchen in Edenton in 1971 and after his initial success he opened The Chicken Kitchen in Williamston in 1972. Joe has a Master’s in Business Administration and was the Assistant to The President of Hardees before opening the Chicken Kitchen in Edenton.
