Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar serves some of the best food on Hatteras Island. The waterfront restaurant has the best views on the island with gorgeous indoor and outdoor dining. Good Winds purchases much of their seafood, vegetables and fruit locally to give you the freshest food available. The meals are made from scratch as you order. It is beach cuisine with a twist.  Chef Joel Sardinha uses Asian, Southern, New England and Gulf–Coast flavors to offer you a variety of delicious food.  Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar offers an extensive wine list, craft beers and some of the most creative mixed drinks you will ever try.

History

Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar opened on July 4th, 2010. The great food along with the beautiful location on the water soon gave Good Winds the reputation of being one of the most desirable restaurants on Hatteras Island.  Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar operators Joel and Robbie Sardinha have trained their staff well to present you with excellent food and service.  There are diners who have enjoyed eating at Good Winds five times in a week.

Chef Biography

Good Winds Seafood & Wine Bar

Joel Sardinha grew up in New England surrounded by fresh seafood and many diverse culinary delicacies. He had the pleasure of working beside incredible chefs who taught him that culinary creativity is not a learned skill, but an art that must grow with time. Joel moved to Naples Florida and became the Executive Chef of Bistro 821. He then opened Sardinha’s, an upscale Mediterranean Grill.  Joel is now delighted to be the master chef and operator of Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar.  He has combined his love of flavors from around the world to create unique and wonderful tasting food at Good Winds.  Joel has been honored to be chosen by the Governor of North Carolina to represent North Carolina in the National Seafood Cookoff in New Orleans. He has attained numerous other honors including Best Chef in North Carolina, is listed among the Great Chefs of the South and has been the winner of several Outer Banks Cooking events including Taste of The Beach and The Chili Cookoff.

Good Winds Seafood & Wine Bar

John Harris is the successful businessman who founded Kitty Hawk Kites in 1974. He created the Hatteras Kiteboarding Resort in Rodanthe and realized the need for a restaurant that would be enjoyed by people living in the villages on Hatteras Island and the many travelers to this beautiful area. The facility housing Good Winds Seafood and Wine Bar is located in the Hatteras Kiteboarding Resort that John Harris founded.

    For unique and delicious appetizers try the Oysters’ Drago, New Orleans Crab Bisque or Domestic Calamari. You will love the special main dishes such as Signature NC Muddle, The Squealing Yardbird and Asian Noodle Bowls. Top off your dining experience by trying a new thirst quenching drink such as a “Cheap Sun Glasses”, “Razzlewatatini”, “Swedish Cosmopolitan” or a “Horny Margarita”.

    Excellent Dining

    Great variety, quality, service and sound views. My wife and I especially love the Asian noodle bowls, and anxiously await reopening for the 2013 season.
