History

Andy Montero is often called the “muffin man” because he started his own business by baking muffins and croissants and delivering them to a few small businesses in Elizabeth City. Andy’s reputation for good food and service grew fast and he was soon delivering baked goods to over 100 businesses per week. In 2005, Andy and his wife Karin realized their dream of opening an excellent restaurant in Elizabeth City. They renovated a large 1904 home into a beautiful restaurant with several intimate dining rooms and two large dining areas. 

Chef Biography

Montero's

Markieth Cole has been part of Montero’s team since the restaurant opened in 2005. He graduated Johnson and Wales University with a culinary degree and has refined his excellent skills and knowledge at Montero’s restaurant. He works hard with other staff in the kitchen to prepare a variety of delicious tasting food.
Ty Parker has been working at Montero’s since 2006. Ty has been trained to work almost every position at Montero’s. He cooks everything on the menu, serves guests, prepares food for catering, trains other employees and generally helps other staff stay calm and collected during the busy times.

Owner Biography

Montero's

Andy and Karin Montero have loved preparing good food their entire lives. They both started in the kitchens of their families. Andy sharpened his cooking skills at several restaurants and a country club in the Hampton Roads Area.  He chose to attend Johnson and Wales University to learn as much as he could about the culinary industry. Andy had the opportunity to learn from talented chefs and to travel to Italy to increase his culinary knowledge. Karin also attended Johnson and Wales University and fell in love with the mixology and service side of the industry. Their excellent skills and knowledge propelled them to be selected as teacher’s assistants after graduation from Johnson and Wales. They both shared the dream to open an excellent restaurant and catering business.  They chose to get married and reside in Elizabeth City and realized their dream of opening Montero’s Restaurant in 2005.

    Loved the steak

    I loved the steak with crab meat and asparagus. It was juicy and the flavors mixed together very well. It was a delicious meal that I will have again at Monteros.

    Great Service, Tasty Food

    From the minute my wife and I entered we were treated very well. The receptionist and wait staff were excellent every step of the way. The specials they offered the night we were there were delicious.
