History

Short Stop opened in 1981 as a twenty four hour convenience store. Connie and Roger Hudson grew a strong customer base by offering products that were needed at reasonable prices.  In 1989, they renovated the store, and added a grill and seating to meet the demand of customers who wanted a good place to eat. Connie and Roger have adjusted their menu and added items to keep their customers satisfied.

Several cooks keep their customers happy and well fed at Short Stop. Debbie cooks at Short Stop during the day and learned how to cook from her mother. Peggy has been cooking at Short Stop for twelve years and is well known for the great biscuits she makes. Lena has used her significant culinary skills at Short Sop for fifteen years. She loves putting her special touch to cook the fried chicken.  Hester is the evening cook and has been cooking up delicious dinners at Short Stop for twenty five years.  The long working history of cooks at Short Stop is testimony to the strong fellowship and great match that these cooks are for their chosen occupation.

Short Stop

Connie and Roger Hudson are the hands on owners of Short Stop. They admit that “business has been good for us”. This is due to them knowing their customers and meeting their customers’ needs. Roger owned a trucking company before opening Short Stop. His time on the road taught him the importance of providing a good meal for travelers and locals. Roger is an avid hunter and is happy to trade hunting stories with his customers. Connie keeps customers coming back with her caring attitude and welcoming personality. You will typically find her in the dining area having fun with her guests. Together Connie and Roger have created a welcoming place with excellent food at service at low prices.
