Captain Bob’s Restaurant offers comfortable, spacious seating and incredibly delicious food. Captain Bob’s reputation of excellent food has travelled as far as Washington DC and Charlotte NC with the restaurant catering to these two cities and many other cities throughout North Carolina and Virginia. The friendly staff and ocean theme in the restaurant make for a relaxing dining experience.
Captain Bob’s Restaurant is located on US 17 in Hertford. The downtown Hertford Historic District is close by as is the Newbold White House, the oldest brick house in North Carolina.

History
The restaurant was established in 1984 as White’s BBQ. In 1994, owners Bobby and Sharon Lane built the new restaurant and called it Captain Bob’s. As business grew, the restaurant was expanded in 1999 to seat 180 diners. Locals and visitors have made Captain Bob’s their favorite dining choice for years.
Chef Biography
Captain Bob and Sharon Lane have a labor of love operating Captain Bob’s Restaurant. The eighteen hour days fly by as they make sure their restaurant is serving their customers so well. Captain Bob is a fourth generation fisherman who has fished since he was a boy and worked in a snack bar as a teenager. Captain Bob and Sharon invite you to visit them at Captain Bob’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner any day of the week. Once you have eaten at Captain Bob’s you will come back!
Three chefs per day insure that each meal is prepared perfectly. Bobby Lane (“Captain Bob”) also provides his culinary experience along with catching local fish early in the morning to be served fresh in the restaurant. Other food specialties include charcoal pit cooked NC barbecue and homemade dishes including their signature southern fried chicken. The daily lunch will fill even the hungriest diner. The seafood buffet on Friday evening and the country buffet on Saturday evening bring people back for more. The Sunday buffet offers Captain Bob’s famous barbecue and chicken along with numerous other items. Delicious homemade desserts top off the wonderful meals served at Captain Bob’s.

- Combination Platter
We had the combination BBQ and fried chicken last night. We did not have to wait long for the chicken to cook. The portions are big. We can never eat all that we are served. Good atmosphere and good dining.
