When you are motoring on Highway 12 South, through the Frisco Village area on Hatteras Island, you will come to a white cinderblock structure on the right-hand side. If you are looking for somewhere to eat, your first impulse may be to keep driving to find a place with a fancier exterior; but that would be a mistake, because this restaurant is known for its Island cuisine.

History
Russ Ochs, Gina’s husband, was stationed at the Navy Base on Hatteras Island. Following his tour of duty, he decided to make the island home. In January 1963, he started operating the Lighthouse Restaurant in Buxton, and in 1978, he exercised an offer to purchase a vacant building in Frisco, which had previously been a bar, motel, seafood market, private club, and restaurant. The rest is history. Russ, Gina, and their children have worked hard to create the reputation that the Quarterdeck Restaurant now enjoys.
Owner/Chef Biography
The Quarterdeck Restaurant is literally a family affair. There are four members of the Ochs family that participate in the operation of the eatery. Gina, the matriarch, sons Eddie and John, and daughter, Tiffney, all contribute in making this eatery a true Hatteras Island Landmark.
